Clarke is a Speech-Language Pathologist and Assistant Professor in the Department of Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences, San Francisco State University. His research is motivated by the challenges facing SLPs and families of children receiving SLP services, and he embraces qualitative and quantitative methodologies. Clarke has a particular interest in the ways in which everyday interaction and teaching/therapy encounters are constructed, including how communicative competence is realized in these interactions.
