This session will discuss evidence-based practices for conducting quality speech assessments for children who are multilingual, with an emphasis on children who are highly unintelligible. The session will assist monolingual SLPs with identifying multilingual students’ strengths and weaknesses, interpreting assessment results, and distinguishing dialect versus disorder. The speaker will share strategies for how to work with interpreters to assist with the administration of assessments as well as approaches for working with multilingual families.
