Various members of the educational team may define and use terms related to autism differently, impacting the ability to effectively assess students to determine educational impact and, therefore, eligibility for SLP and other services under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). This session will aim to clarify terminology and IDEA requirements so that SLPs can share this information with IEP team members so everyone can utilize consistent, accurate language to ensure students receive appropriate, impactful services.
