Although students with complex communication needs are the primary users of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) in schools, school staff and caregivers also need to be included in the assessment and treatment process. SLPs sometimes struggle to encourage buy-in from other stakeholders, but it is crucial for the success of the AAC user that all their communication partners understand how to use the system and encourage communication. This session will share techniques and strategies to increase stakeholder buy-in for AAC use.
