Why Book a Room Through ASHA?

Schools Connect attendees and the association both benefit when you book a hotel room through ASHA. Here's how:

ASHA's Official Housing Partner

Starting in 2023, ASHA has a new official Housing partner, Maritz Global Events. With ASHA’s new vendor comes a new look and feel to our Housing booking experience. Check out some additional information below that may help guide you through the housing process.

Unauthorized Housing Providers

Sometimes, ASHA is alerted that an unauthorized housing company is contacting our attendees or exhibitors to inform them that they can offer less expensive room rates at hotels in our block. You may also encounter fraudulent websites promoting housing reservations for ASHA. Maritz Global Events is the only official registration and housing company for ASHA. Only representatives from Maritz can register you or book your reservation within our block of rooms. You will only be able to navigate to Maritz's registration and housing system through our own website. ASHA may not be able to assist attendees who have reserved rooms outside the block if problems result from booking through an unauthorized company. If you receive a solicitation call or email from any company that is not our official housing provider or find a suspicious website, please contact us immediately at ashaconnect@asha.org.

ADA Hotel Rooms

All official Schools Connect conference hotels comply with the Americans With Disabilities Act. For those with mobility needs, the Hyatt Regency is the closet hotel from the Long Beach Convention Center, at just 0.2 miles away. Read more about accessibility at ASHA's live events for information about requests for reasonable accommodations.

New ASHA ID/Account Number Requirement

Beginning in 2023, all event attendees registering for ASHA events will be required to have an ASHA ID/account number. Prior to registering for an event or making a housing reservation, we encourage all participants to locate their ASHA ID/account number or create one, if necessary.

When reserving your hotel room, the site will ask for your ASHA ID/account number; although not required, it does help the ASHA team with tracking Housing information.

Have an ASHA ID/account number but don’t know what it is?

If you have an ASHA ID/account number, but do not know what it is, visit www.asha.org, click “My Account” in the upper right corner, and sign into your account (or click “forgot password” in order to access your account). Your ASHA ID/account number can be found at the top of your My Account page directly underneath your name.

Need an ASHA ID/account number?

If you don’t have an ASHA ID/account number, visit www.asha.org, click “My Account” in the upper right corner, and use the “Create a new account” link at the bottom of the page. Or you can call the ASHA Action Center at 301-889-9836 for help creating an ASHA ID/account. Once an ASHA ID/account number has been established, you will need to wait 24 hours to register for the event. Note that Housing can be booked without having an ASHA ID/account number.

Automatic Waitlist

ASHA’s new housing site offers attendees the option of being automatically added to a waitlist if one or more of the nights during their stay are fully booked.

Each week, ASHA and its housing vendor will work with the respective hotels to assess the opportunities for waitlist rooms to be moved into the block. If available, attendees will be notified once they have been moved off the waitlist and into a confirmed room. Waitlist rooms will be identified by an orange box and messaging during the booking process.

Room Sharing

If you are sharing a room, or reserving a room for a colleague, please have all guests’ ASHA IDs/account numbers and email addresses ready prior to using the housing system.

During the booking process, additional guests may be added to the hotel reservation by first indicating the number of guests in the search process and then adding all guest information through the “add person” section of the room occupancy area of the booking.

When filling out the occupant information, please create a shareable password for each occupant so that they can easily log in and access their own attendee dashboard prior to the event. Once the hotel room has been secured, a booking confirmation will be sent to all hotel room occupants. Should any room occupants forget their password, they can access the dashboard by simply clicking on the housing confirmation link in the email.

Room Modifications or Cancellations

After securing housing accommodations, attendees can log into the Attendee Service Center to modify or cancel the reservation.

Hotel cancellations must be made no later than 72 hours (Renaissance) or 48 hours (Hyatt) prior to your arrival date. Cancellation after that time, or failure to check in on your scheduled day of arrival, will result in a one-night's room and tax penalty charged by the hotel to the credit card used for guarantee. In addition, be sure to verify checkout dates at check-in as an early checkout may result in an early-departure fee.

Reservation changes and cancellations can be made with Maritz through Wednesday, June 21, 2023. Use the link in your confirmation or email ASHASchoolsHotel@maritz.com. Beginning Friday, June 23, 2023, changes and cancellations must be made directly with the hotel.

Note that cancelling a hotel room does not automatically cancel your conference registration, and cancelling your registration does not automatically cancel your hotel room. If you need to cancel, be sure to follow the cancellation process for both the registration and the hotel room individaually.
